A 99,500 SF 585-student elementary school building with a partial three story and partial two story classroom wing and the remainder of the building is single-story space for gymnasium, dining and administration functions. The school also includes a mechanical mezzanine above the classroom wing. School features roof gardens and daylight features and is planned for certification as a LEED platinum project. The school is on a sloping site, with story-height retaining walls to accommodate the site grades. Northside is the first LEED Platinum Elementary School in North Carolina. It is the 20th LEED Platinum public school in the country, and it is 1 of 4 LEED Platinum elementary schools in the country.
