John has always had a creative side and began his career by pursuing an education in Architecture. After graduation he chose to serve his country and spent two years with the Peace Corps in Micronesia. While in the Peace Corps, John was able to apply his architectural background and some basic engineering principals he had learned to the projects he was assigned. He found that he had a passion for solving the engineering problems and upon his return to the U.S. he pursued a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. John joined the firm after graduation in 1984 and has been the Branch Manager of the Glen Allen (Now Richmond) office since 2001. Because of his unique background, he brings a very different perspective to his projects, helping his clients to realize their vision through efficient, innovative structural engineering.
As Branch Manager, John is actively involved in all phases of many different projects. On any given day this involves developing new business opportunities, project quality control, project management, construction administration, etc. He enjoys the great variety of challenges that each day brings.
