During his time in Wolfpack country, Earl worked in various engineering fields such as construction materials research, roadway design, and airport maintenance before deciding to focus on the structural design of buildings.  At the start of his career at Stroud Pence, he had the opportunity to spend an extensive amount of time on jobsites making field observations and working with contractors.  This field work established the fundamentals for providing economical structural designs and innovative solutions to construction problems.

Earl is a board member of Virginia Structural Engineers Council and a member of the Hampton Roads Special Inspections Committee.  Through these organizations, he works with other engineers to enhance the structural engineering profession in Virginia.  Earl enjoys coaching, whether on the sports field with his two boys or in the office.  Through this leadership style he fosters teamwork on all his projects.  As a dedicated Principal in the firm, Earl’s primary focus is to successfully provide a balance between client needs and engineering requirements for any consulting task.
