SPA provides structural engineering for the historic preservation, renovation, wind and seismic upgrade and reconstruction of historic landmark buildings. Our basic philosophy is to retain the original structural system, but to supplement and strengthen buildings as necessary with modern materials. Our techniques have been recognized for meeting the requirements of governing bodies for historic credits, and by foundations and other entities responsible for minimizing the loss of historic elements. From comprehensive feasibility studies to expert handling of specific structural elements such as cupolas and ornamental work, to full construction documents, SPA engineers have the expertise to manage these highly specialized projects.
